Christmas Song!

Check out our Christmas song! I truly enjoy teaching all your students - thank you for giving me that honor.  Have a wonderful break and I will see you in 2015!!

Words:

Vs. 1:

Santa is coming it's Christmastime,
We put on Christmas plays and memorize our lines.
We hang up our stockings for Christmas Eve,
There are no longer any leaves on the trees.

Vs. 2:
It is really snowy outside,
We get lots of presents our mom and dad try to hide,
We slide down the hill on our big, red sled,
Celebrating Christmas is so fun with our friends!

Chorus:
The lights are out it's Christmastime,
The trees are up it's Christmastime.
Santa needs a vacation from the North Pole.
So many kids are bad and getting too much coal.
The bells ring out it's Christmastime.

Vs. 3:
On Christmas morning we open our gifts,
If you stand under the mistletoe you have to kiss,
People put ornaments on their trees,
If you want a Christmas cookie you have to say please

Bridge:
Santa's too fat to fit down the chimney
Falalalalala
While the reindeer wait on the roof so chilly
Fallalalaalala

Happy Halloween

In celebration of Halloween we are posting our Halloween song we wrote!  We have talked a lot about poetry rhyme scheme so we decided to put our poetry to music!  For those of you who can't understand the lyrics, I've put them below.  Enjoy!!

vs. 1:
Halloween is really cool,
We love to go to school!
The World Series is sweet,
We dress up and trick or treat.

Vs. 2:
We play football in the Fall,
Sometimes we catch the ball.
We rake up the leaves and
jump in the piles,
And then we run and run for miles.

Chorus:
In the Fall we play lots of sports,
And it's too cold to wear shorts.
We eat lots and lots of candy,
The leaves falling is pretty handy!

vs 3:
We trick or treat on Halloween night,
The monsters give us a fright.
The witches take flight and scare
all the children,
And make brews in their cauldron.

Vs. 4:
The Giants took home the trophy,
People come to my house and
scare me.
We pick a pumpkin and carve
jack-o-lanterns,
And put a candle inside to burn.

Scholastic Book Orders

Hello!
Just a few things.  1. Remember you have  a LONG weekend this weekend!  Monday, September 15 there is NO SCHOOL.  I'll see your students again on Tuesday, September 16.

2. I will be sending book orders home in the students' folders on Tuesday.  I PREFER if you would do an online order.  There is a link on the RH sidebar on this blog you can follow.  It will automatically order it to my classroom  OR you can use the code at the top of the book order and just go to the scholastic website.

Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Mrs. Jensen

Saving Fred

Today we learned to work together by doing an activity where we had to save Fred the gummy worm. I encourage you to ask your students about it!

It has been a pleasure getting to know them this week. I just know we are going to have an incredible year! Enjoy your long weekend and I will see you Tuesday.

Welcome!

Hello third graders and families!  I am beyond excited to be starting another year together.  I know we are going to learn a TON and have a great time in the process! Watch this space for pictures of your students, updates, and more!  Speaking of pictures, it was my good intention to get pictures during open house, but there was too much going on.  Thanks to our wonderful computer teacher, Melissa Ficklin, for snapping this picture with me and the very cute Madison -

Just a few things before we get started -
1. check out our grade level blog for even more information.  That's found at http://www.perrine3rdgrade.blogspot.com/
2. please subscribe to my remind 101 account.  That information was sent home during open house (or in the orange folder sent home if you were not able to make it).
3. We have P.E. on Mondays (yes, the first day of school!) so please make sure your students bring or wear the appropriate footwear (tennis shoes).

I think that's it for now, I look forward to our many adventures together this year!
Please Email or call me anytime with questions/concerns.
Thank you!
